Currently, Fluent is optimized for Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, and newer). Intel Mac support is on our roadmap. The Whisper AI model runs significantly faster on Apple's Neural Engine, which is why we prioritized Apple Silicon first.

Why does Fluent need microphone permission?
Fluent needs microphone access to capture your voice for transcription. However, all audio processing happens locally on your Mac - no audio data is ever sent to the cloud or stored anywhere. You can verify this by checking our open-source code.
